The Company

balance   (blns)
n.
1. The power or means to decide.
2. A stable mental or psychological state; emotional stability.
3. A harmonious or satisfying arrangement or proportion of parts or elements, as in a design.

GiCor lodging projects ltd. was established by its partners as a result of striving to create a balance in our lives that is congruent with our priorities and goals. The underlying objective is a need to work productively, effectively and still find time to develop ourselves personally outside of the work space.

GiCor lodging projects ltd. is relatively young on paper, yet began long ago facilitated by a working relationship between the partners as supplier and client. Through a series of successful major projects, the performance and service standards were being established to set in place the eventual policies and procedures for their new venture. The result is a shared philosophy of executing each project from start to finish with tireless communication between our clients, contractors, and suppliers. This interaction serves to define the customers expectations, working budgets, and any time constraints that may exist. This is immediately followed by the planning, implementation, and execution of these projects with complete accuracy and precision. In addition, we believe that the success of our business is determined by the quality and integrity of our suppliers, therefore our suppliers must share the same philosophy and standards as ourselves.

With support from our families, friends, and past clients over the past two decades, we have come to this place in our lives. Individually we have been successful; jointly we harness our diverse backgrounds and strengths to offer value as a source for both residential and commercial clients that is second to none. Combined, we celebrate over forty five years experience in the fields of interior design, construction management, and all facets of window coverings.

Corinne Wissner

Business experience:

Corinne Wissner is native to Calgary and was inspired to be an interior designer from an early age. In conversation, Corinne tells of changing her bedroom decor numerous times as a young girl. After high school, she set out to further her education and attended a design school in upstate New York graduating Magna Cum Laude. Shortly after her graduation, she moved to Westchester County where she was employed by Mary W. Delany Interior Design in Stamford, CT. The experience she gained in not only the design and construction end of the business but also the day to day operations was invaluable. After four years, Corinne relocated to California, first residing in Fresno and then Sacramento. Having almost ten years experience as a designer she decided it was time to start her own business. Regrouping back in Calgary with the help of family and friends she started Choice Interior Design.

Working in various capacities with hundreds of residential, commercial and hospitality clients in the last ten years has given Corinne the knowledge and experience to tackle any size design project. Her clients and vendors are her friends and she cherishes her relationships with them.

Personal information:

In conjunction with running her own business, her not-so-spare time is filled with skiing, hiking, yoga, camping and trying to find balance in her life. Corinne also has spent numerous hours volunteering and has participated in the Designers Showcase (benefiting the Kids Help Phone) and the Festival of Trees (benefiting the Alberta Lung Association and the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation). She was also on the executive of the Calgary Womens Network for six years.

Giles Dupas

Business experience:

Giles Dupas is native to Calgary and has been involved in the interior design industry for over twenty five years. Through his contributions in a successful family run business, Giles has gained an immeasurable understanding of interior design and many other related fields. Since the early 80’s, he has tendered, project managed, and installed window coverings for both commercial and residential projects. He has managed wholesale distribution outlets and acted as a manufacturer’s representative in a number of markets including; commercial and residential textiles, drapery hardware, industrial fabrics, and an extensive range of window covering product lines. It is from these experiences that he has developed and refined his skills in purchasing, inventory management, customer service, and marketing. For three years before starting GiCor lodging projects ltd., Giles worked for a large corporation in a senior sales and project management role where his primary focus was the commercial window covering market. During that time he increased his awareness of the importance of communication, specification, and planning in all areas relating to and including motorization and specialty window covering applications.

In early 2003, Giles and his family decided that it was time to take advantage of his past experiences and channel his energy toward a new direction. For Giles, GiCor lodging projects ltd. is a culmination of all his past experiences.

Personal information:

Giles is happily married with 2 children. His interests are his family, water and snow skiing, roller-blading, cycling, camping, and home renovations. As giving back to the community is also important to him, he is in his 10th year as a volunteer ski instructor with the CADS (Canadian Association for Disabled Skiing) program.
